Have you ever noticed this?
"People visit the rich with gifts, but they visit the poor with advice."
That proverb stopped me in my tracks today.
It made me wonder how often we mistake talking for helping.
When someone is thriving, we celebrate them. We praise them. We support them. But when someone is struggling, our first instinct is often to tell them what they should do.
Sometimes advice is valuable.
But sometimes what a person really needs is compassion, encouragement, a listening ear, or practical support.
As we walk a spiritual path, we're invited to ask ourselves:
Am I quick to give advice when someone really needs empathy?
Have I ever received advice when what I truly needed was kindness?
How can I become someone who offers presence before opinions?
I'd love to hear your thoughts.
