I just happened to log on to Facebook and saw that the great historian, author, and medical doctor Dr. Charles Finch has transitioned.
I was truly blessed to have done an audio interview with him in 2007, which I’ve attached here. I also had the honor of meeting him in person at a conference, and I’ll be sharing some of that video interview with some of you as well.
I first became aware of Dr. Finch through Ivan Van Sertima’s book Blacks in Science, where Dr. Finch wrote a powerful article on the African contribution to science. He was a fearless champion of the truth and a strong proponent of the fact that Egypt was an African civilization.
When I began the journey of working on my film, I reached out to Dr. Finch for support—and without hesitation, he wrote me a letter of recommendation, which I’ve also attached. I also mentioned Dr. Finch in Chapter 2 of my book, Meditations Across the King's River.
His transition is a great loss, but his work, his courage, and his legacy live on through us. He will be missed, but we continue the fight.
May he rest in power. ✊🏾
