Remembrance Day 2026
Of all the duties and ceremonies I have the honour of undertaking in service to His Majesty King Charles III and the Lord-Lieutenant of Cambridgeshire, none moves me more than Remembrance Sunday.
Today, I had the privilege of representing the Lord-Lieutenant in the beautiful market town of March, Cambridgeshire, where I was honoured to lead the procession and lay the first wreath.
There is something incredibly powerful about seeing an entire community come together.
Young and old, people from all walks of life, standing shoulder to shoulder in quiet reflection, remembering those who made the ultimate sacrifice so that we might enjoy the freedom, peace and security we so often take for granted.
March did itself proud today.
The respect, dignity and sense of community were truly humbling.
I don't think it matters how tough you think you are. When you stand amongst hundreds of people in silence, reflecting on the lives lost, the families torn apart and the extraordinary sacrifices made for generations they would never meet, it's almost impossible not to be deeply moved.
It's a reminder of just how much we owe to those who came before us, and why we must never allow their sacrifice to be forgotten.
To everyone who organised, participated in or attended today's service, thank you.
We will remember them. 🌺
