welcome to the zook lab 🌿
skincare has become ridiculously complicated. too many products. too many “must-have” ingredients. too much marketing telling us we need another serum, another active, another 10-step routine. this community is for doing the opposite. we’re going to learn how to read labels, understand what ingredients actually do, question the hype + figure out what our skin genuinely needs. but first, I want to know about you. what’s the ONE thing about skincare you find most confusing? ingredients? what products you actually need? what order to use them? what’s “clean” and what isn’t? whether expensive skincare is actually better? something else? drop it below 👇 I’ll use your answers to shape what we decode first.

skincare shouldn’t feel like a full-time job!!
i love skincare. but even i think we’ve made the whole bloody thing exhausting. 😂 there’s always another active we’re supposed to know about. another step to add. another part of our face we’re apparently meant to correct. i don’t want the zook lab to become another place that makes you feel like you’re falling behind. i’d rather teach you enough about your skin + ingredients that you become confident enough to say: “actually, i don’t need that.” sometimes good skincare is incredibly boring. gentle cleansing. a good moisturiser. supporting your skin barrier. protecting your skin when you need to. doing it consistently. then we can get clever where there’s actually a reason to. so welcome to the zook lab - the boring skincare club 😂 our routines don’t need to be impressive. they need to make sense.

the fact that i can make THIS still blows my mind 🤯
i’ve been making a few things lately, but there’s something about making an actual cream that still gets me. you start with completely separate ingredients. oil + water don’t naturally want to stay together. then you formulate properly, use an emulsifier, heat your phases, combine everything…+ suddenly you’re looking at this beautiful creamy texture. it’s not magic. but it bloody feels like it 😂 this is exactly why i want the zook lab’s formula room to be about more than copying recipes. i want us to understand why things work. why is that ingredient there? what job is it doing? why does one formula need preservation while another doesn’t? why does a cream behave completely differently from an oil? because once you understand that… an ingredient list stops looking like another language. 🌿

this is all i needed to make my own facial cleansing oil 🌿
a scale. a beaker. four ingredients: 🌿 jojoba oil 🍇 grapeseed oil 🌾 oat oil 🌿 natural vitamin e that’s it. before i started experimenting with formulation, i think i assumed making skincare meant complicated equipment + complicated chemistry. - sometimes it absolutely does. but not always. simple anhydrous products like this cleansing oil can be surprisingly uncomplicated. weigh your ingredients. combine them. bottle them. - suddenly you’re holding something you actually made yourself. that’s exactly why i want the zook lab’s formula room to start with products like this. not pretending we can make anything in our kitchens. not skipping important formulation + safety principles. but learning with simple products that make sense. - understanding every ingredient we put in them. because once you make your first one… it’s pretty bloody addictive 💛🌿

HI NICE TO MEET YOU AND I AM GLAD TO BE IN THIS SPACE THAT YOU ARE TRYING TO BUILD
Hey everyone, just joined and wanted to introduce myself. I'm currently working on my own Skool community and connecting with other creators who are also somewhere in the building or pre-launch stage. I'd be interested in hearing from other community owners here. If you're the owner, feel free to say hello or send me a DM. I'd love to compare experiences.
