The Month-Long Writing Challenge Starts Today This week’s challenge is structured on purpose, because structure will pull the truth out of you. Write a piece that exposes the contradiction in you, the side people praise and the side they punish. Rules: - 3 lines that start with: “I am…” - 3 lines that start with: “Truth is…” - 2 lines that start with: “They think…” - End with: “That’s why I don’t explain myself.” - Title must be ONE WORD No pressure to perform. Prompt for this month.
I chose the word Silence. Silence looks like a room holding its breath while truth stands unclothed. Silence costs you the comfort of being understood less. Silence protects the parts of you that are still healing and not ready for spectators. Silence destroys the need to explain yourself to people committed to mishearing you.
