History Is Today. Not Yesterday.
This conversation with Addi Banks shifted something in me.
We don’t call each other sister, brother, cousin by accident.
That instinct to connect…To mastermind…To share resources…To protect one another…
It comes from survival.
Addi broke down how enslaved Africans from different tribes and languages bonded as family to survive. That culture of connection is still in us.
It even has a name: fictive kin.
This is why community matters. This is why this space matters. This is why we do not build alone.
But here’s the real question:
If knowing our history strengthens our identity, why aren’t more of us actively learning it?
Addi has built an entire Black history platform and is on a 90-day goal to grow it.
This is one of those moments where we don’t just say “this is important.”
We take action.
🎧 Go listen to the episode: History Is Today: Reclaiming Identity and Truth with Addi Banks
Then come back here and answer this:
What part of your history do you need to understand more deeply to move with greater confidence?
Let’s build from knowledge.
