Stephen King speaks about writing from a very early age. "I could spin stories from just about anything I saw," He stated in his book On Writing. Later, he spoke generically about honing his craft, and learning things he wanted to utilize in his work.. Not just general knowledge, but the more in-depth details. This comes full circle to WRITE WHAT YOU KNOW. I have taken that sentiment and used it in publishing my first poetry book, Shades of Darkness. I used my path through the hell of an abusive marriage that took me two years to plan my escape. I guess what I am trying to say is if you feel down and out, look at the situations you have been through in life. Pick a couple, and look at how to tweak them a bit and let those situations take on a fictional lifre of their own. Maybe seeing them in writing will assist you in processing some of the emotions or the physical event itself.
