Fit for Spain…
Well... this wasn't quite the plot twist I was expecting! 🤣🇪🇸 When I started The Spanish Social, I thought I was creating a community around everything I love about Spain... the food, the sunshine, the slower pace of life, the beautiful villages and that feeling of being completely present. And don't get me wrong... I still absolutely love all of that. But here's the funny thing... Coaching keeps following me around like a stray cat that refuses to take the hint. 😂 No matter how many times I think, "No, I'm just going to post about Spain..." I somehow end up talking about strength, movement, confidence and living well. Then it hit me... It's never really been about Spain. It's been about how I want to feel in Spain. I want to be the woman who wanders the steep streets of Frigiliana without worrying about the hills. Who parks miles away from the mercadillo and doesn't think twice about the walk. Who lifts her own suitcase, explores all day and still has enough energy for an evening paseo and a glass of rosé. Watching my mum's world become smaller has changed how I think about getting older. And I don't want that for me. Or for you. So I'm not gatekeeping what I'm learning anymore. I'm launching Fit for Spain. 🇪🇸💚 Not because I want women to have a "holiday body." But because I want us to have holiday freedom. To keep saying yes. To keep travelling. To keep exploring. To keep our worlds big. If you're here because you love Spain, don't worry... that's not changing. We're just adding something that I believe is even more important. Because the strongest souvenir we can bring home... ...is a body that's ready for the next adventure. ☀️

🇪🇸FIT FOR MIJAS PUEBLO
West of Malaga, Perched in the hills above the Costa del Sol is the stunning white washed village of Mijas Pueblo. Flower-filled balconies, little independent shops, stunning views across the coast and plenty of places to stop for a coffee (or a cheeky glass of rosé). 🍷 But be warned, those pretty streets come with a fair few hills and steps! 🌺DON'T MISS 🌸 Plaza de la Constitución A lovely spot to sit, grab a coffee and watch the world go by. 🏘️ The old town Wander through the narrow, whitewashed streets, admire the colourful flowerpots and discover the little shops tucked away in the side streets. 🌊 The viewpoints Some lovely views across the Costa del Sol, particularly on a clear day. ⛪ Ermita de la Virgen de la Peña A little chapel built into the rock, with beautiful views over the coastline. 🌿 The gardens and park A chance to take a breather and enjoy a quieter side of the village. ☕ The cafés and tapas bars Because no Spanish adventure is complete without a few stops along the way! 🥾 THIS WEEK'S FIT FOR MIJAS CHALLENGE The Mijas Pueblo Wander Start at Plaza de la Constitución and spend some time exploring the old town on foot. Wander through the narrow streets, find the viewpoints, visit the little chapel and finish with a well-earned coffee or tapas. There are hills, steps and plenty of uneven streets, so take your time and enjoy the vistas and the journey. Fit for Spain. Fit for life. 🇪🇸

🇪🇸 A little Spanish paperwork knowledge: what is an NIE?
If you're thinking about buying property, working, setting up a business, dealing with Spanish tax, or generally having financial or administrative dealings with Spain, you'll probably come across the letters NIE. It stands for Número de Identidad de Extranjero — basically your unique identification number as a foreigner dealing with Spanish authorities. You'll use it for things such as buying property, opening certain bank accounts, paying taxes, employment and other official transactions. Your NIE number doesn't expire. 🇪🇸 Once you're assigned your number, it's yours. You don't get a new one every time you visit Spain or change your circumstances. Some authorities may, however, ask for an up-to-date NIE certificate as proof of the number. One important distinction… An NIE is NOT residency. Having an NIE doesn't give you the right to live or work in Spain. It's simply an identification number for foreigners who have a connection with Spain for economic, professional or social reasons. So if you're starting to think about spending more time in Spain, it's one of those little bits of Spanish bureaucracy worth knowing about. 🇪🇸 Spain is beautiful. The paperwork… not quite so much. 😂

From The Farm To The Table
It’s not all olives & avocados! Did you know The Axarquía is known for its subtropical climate and therefore grows some amazing tropical fruits? Mangoes, Starfruit, Custard Apples & Papaya all grow well in the region. Fruits are picked ready to eat so they are sweeter and full of flavour. From farm to mercadillo to table.
