🥩 Nutrition Basics – Smart Cat Society Meet
On Sunday we’ll be covering the foundations of feline nutrition.
Cats are obligate carnivores, meaning they are biologically designed to thrive on animal protein. Their diet must prioritise:
• High-quality protein – for muscle, skin, immune and overall health• Taurine – essential for heart and eye function• Balanced calcium & minerals – especially important for growing kittens• Moisture-rich feeding – supports kidney and urinary health
We’ll also discuss:• Wet vs dry food considerations• What “biologically appropriate” really means• How to use treats strategically without disrupting balance
Nutrition underpins behaviour, development, and longevity. If the diet isn’t right, everything else becomes harder.
See you on the 22nd.
