Welcome to ‘Simply Sleep’. 🌙✨ You’re here because sleep has become a struggle. And if you’re anything like the women I work with, you’ve probably tried everything, the apps, the supplements, the routines, the white noise machines, and still you’re awake at 3am, mind churning, body tense, wondering what’s wrong with you. Here’s what I know: nothing is wrong with you! Your nervous system is just sending you signals it doesn’t feel safe. This community exists because sleep isn’t about discipline. It’s not about doing more, optimizing harder, or forcing yourself into some prescribed routine. Real sleep restoration happens when we understand why we don’t sleep, and then we address it, not with shame, but with compassion and biology. In ‘Simply Sleep’, we work with a simple framework: ❤️ Your nervous system as the foundation (polyvagal theory, vagal tone, co-regulation) ❤️ Your values as the compass (what actually matters to you, not what Instagram says should) ❤️ Sense of Coherence as the target (feeling that your life makes sense, even in the hard bits) This means we’ll explore: ✓ What’s really keeping you awake (hint: it’s often not what you think) ✓ How to work with your body instead of against it ✓ The sleep-nutrition-nervous system triad that most people miss ✓ Real tools that feel gentle, not like another thing to force What you’ll find here: 📚 The Classroom: structured modules that build monthly 💬 This community space: real conversations, no algorithms, just us 🎙️ Access to my podcast and guided visualizations 🤝 A group of women who truly get what sleep struggle feels like What you won’t find: ✗ Judgement (you’re doing your best) ✗ “Just relax” advice (if it were that simple, you’d already be asleep) ✗ Selling you supplements you don’t need ✗ Toxic positivity wrapped in wellness language This is a place where your sleep struggles are taken seriously, your nervous system is understood, and healing happens slowly, gently, and for real. I’m so glad you’re here. Let’s do this together.
There's a free sleep aid hiding in your evening. Here's how to use it ⬇️
Hello lovely people, Here's your gentle nudge for the week, and it costs absolutely nothing. 👌 Want better sleep tonight? Go for a little walk in the fading evening light. No kit. No step count. No pressure to turn it into a Thing. Just a gentle stroll at whatever pace feels nice. Not a power walk, not a step-count mission. A proper potter. 👉 Here's the clever bit: As the evening light softens and warms, your brain picks up on it, reading the day as it winds down and starting to shift you towards rest. Your body does the work for you, no effort required on your part. Fifteen minutes is plenty. Longer if you fancy it and the evening's being kind. Round the block, down to the end of the road and back, a slow amble through the park. It all counts. And on the evenings when the most you manage is the doorstep and a few deep breaths? That counts too. Truly. 🌙 So that's your little experiment, if you fancy: pop your shoes on, step outside, and let the light do its thing. Now I'd love to hear from you. Drop a comment below and let me know: 1. Are you an evening walker already, or 2. is this a new one for you? 3. 🌙 And if you give it a go this week, come back and tell me how you slept. I'm off for a wander myself. Berit x Will you try a little evening walk this week?

Why is doing nothing so darn hard? 🤷‍♀️
Hello lovely people, Can I ask you something? Have you ever had a completely free afternoon, no fires to put out, nothing that needs doing, and found you couldn’t actually relax? I’ll sit on the sofa for about four minutes and then I’m up, wiping a worktop that’s already clean or checking my phone for something I can’t even name. And underneath it there’s this little hum of guilt, like I’m bunking off while everyone else is busy. Here’s what I’ve come to believe: it’s not laziness, and it’s not you being bad at relaxing. Our bodies get used to running on “go”. So when the pressure finally lifts, the nervous system doesn’t melt into the sofa, it goes, “Hang on, what am I meant to be doing?” and keeps scanning. If your mind likes ten tabs open (hello, busy brains), the stillness can feel even louder. ⭐️ And everyone else only looks busy because busy is what gets shown. Nobody posts a photo of themselves staring out of a window. We all have different schedules, and when yours has a gap, you’re allowed to take your foot off the pedal. 👉 This week’s small thing: Try five minutes of doing nothing, on purpose. No podcast, no scrolling. Sit or lie down and just notice what your body does. Jaw tightening? Shoulders creeping up? Legs wanting to leap up and leave? Don’t fix it, just watch it like the weather. Noticing is the whole practice. It’s how your body learns that stopping is safe. Over to you: what does your body do when you try to do nothing? Pop it in the comments. I’d love to know I’m not the only one with the fidgety legs. 😄 Where does your body complain first? ⬇️

Cosy is a strategy 🕯️
Autumn has properly arrived. Chilly mornings, crunchy leaves, that smell in the air. Here’s something slightly cheeky: 👉 Cosy is a strategy. 🕯️ Warm lighting, soft blankets, a hot bath, a warm mug in both hands: they all tell your nervous system it’s safe to ease off the accelerator. That’s not indulgent. It’s one of the cleverest things you can do for your sleep, mood and energy through the darker months. So here’s your seasonal permission slip. You are allowed to: 🕯️ Light the candle on a Tuesday, just because 🛁 Run a proper bath with no agenda 🧦 Wrap yourself in the biggest, softest blanket you own 🌙 Go to bed early, with zero guilt Autumn isn’t asking you to keep up. It’s asking you to slow down, and you’re simply in step with the season. And once you’re tucked up, here are some visualisations you might like to add to your cosy evening: https://www.berithavig.com/offers/ZRMNPHyw/checkout Now I want to hear from you: what’s your one cosy thing this week? Drop it below, I’m collecting ideas! 👇 Slow down, just a little. 🍂
