Brain Fog
I hope it's ok to share this in the community. It's a moment of transparency that I hope will help someone else.
There have been seasons in my life when I experienced what I call brain fog. Not confusion, but overwhelm. Fighting too many fronts at once. New territory with no clear playbook. It felt like pressure from every direction, with no obvious way forward.
At one point, a major customer unexpectedly shut down, and we lost roughly 250 service locations overnight. At the same time, there were complex challenges in business, church, family, and friendships. None of them quick fixes. Everything required thought, patience, and clarity I didn’t yet have.
I found myself asking questions I had never asked before: How do I navigate this? How do I move forward when I’ve never been here?
What helped was a conversation with a trusted friend who helped me slow things down. They pointed out something important: fear of the unknown had quietly taken control. Once that was identified, we worked through the process. One step at a time by creating structure, boundaries, and systems. Clarity began to return.
That season is behind me.
Today, when I see others overwhelmed or derailed, I recognize it. I know what it feels like. And now, I’m able to help people slow down, regain perspective, and put things back on track.
If you find yourself in a tough season: it doesn’t define you, and it won’t last forever. Better days are ahead even if you can’t see them yet.
I still have bruises.
However, I am grateful that I can see clearly now.
