In The Lion King, Simba doesn’t just lose his father.
He loses his place. His identity. His sense of where he belongs in the order of things. One moment he is the heir the firstborn, the chosen one and the next, everything he knew about his family and his future is gone.
Sound familiar?
For many biological children, the arrival of an adopted sibling can feel exactly like that moment. Not because the adoptee did anything wrong. Not because the parents love any less.
