Good Is The Enemy of Best
Stephen Covey said something that rewired my brain:
"The enemy of the best is the good."
Read that again.
The enemy of the BEST is the GOOD.
Not the bad. The good.
Because we reject bad. Obviously. But we accept good.
We settle for good. And in doing so, we block the best.
Your education was good.
It taught you to read, write, calculate.
But did it teach you to think?
To question?
To see patterns?
Or did it teach you to memorise, perform, and comply?
Good. Not best.
Your job is good.
It pays the bills.
Gives you security.
But does it use your actual talents?
Does it make you feel alive?
Or does it just keep you busy enough not to think too hard?
Good. Not best.
We're surrounded by "good enough.
" And because it's good, we don't question it.
We don't reach for better.
We don't create space for best.
The problem?
You can't add to an already full vessel without making a mess.
If your life is full of "good," there's no room for "best."
What "good" thing in your life is blocking your "best"?
