Hey everyone. I just want to apologise for being away for two months. You know, I started this community to really help and encourage people and to be encouraged myself. But I’ve just been so busy looking after my kids and building multiple businesses. Fortunately, one of those businesses has finally taken off and it’s doing okay, and the others are falling into place. I’m just relying on God for every need, and He has provided every step of the way.
But yeah, I’m back now and I want to be speaking here as regularly as possible.
I just want to encourage you with this. The church is an institution, an organisation, and there are plenty of good things about it. The church I grew up in gave me a reverence for God, a respect for the scriptures, and taught me to test every spirit as it is written. I’ve experienced a lot of love and a lot of good things. But it’s full of humans, and there are things that aren’t ideal.
One of those things is that we tend to keep ministry within our local church building. Youth group, young adults, worship, Sunday school, morning tea, door welcome. These are all good things. But we need to understand that wherever we are is our ministry field. Wherever your two feet end up, you are called to minister there.
And that doesn’t mean Bible bashing people. What I’ve witnessed, and what I used to do myself, is this: someone, whether an unbeliever or even a believer who’s struggling, will share where they’re at. And right away we jump in and fire a million Bible verses at them. It just doesn’t work. It never lands.
Jesus met people where they were. He went to them. He loved them. He made them well, and then He called them into repentance. We ought not to strive to change behaviour. The behaviour changes because the heart changes. And the heart only changes when you love people the way Jesus loves them.
So I want to encourage and challenge you with that. These are things that are challenging and encouraging for me too. Things I’ve been learning and will continue to learn.
Love you all. Grace and peace.
