Pick matters
I know this is a very personal and subjective decision, but I think it's important to talk a little about the picks we use. I'm sharing this because of a personal experience I’d like to share with all of you. I used to play with Fender Heavy picks (0.96mm). I always felt like something wasn’t quite right when I used them, but I never paid much attention to it. I felt uncomfortable, mainly because my hands sweat, and whenever I tried to play fast, the pick didn’t respond the way I needed it to. One day, I decided to do some research and explore new options. After trying many different ones, I ended up with the Petrucci Trinity picks, and for the past year, that’s all I’ve been using. I feel like this change has really helped me, and they fit exactly what I need.
The message is: if something doesn’t feel right, don’t be afraid to try new things until you find exactly what works for you.
What about you? Do you have a special preference for any particular material or shape? What picks are you using right now?
