Carry our Cross
Carry Our Cross
Luke 14:27 (NKJV) Jesus says, "And whoever does not bear his cross and come after me cannot be my disciples". Death on the cross was a form of execution used by Rome for criminals. A criminal would carry their cross to the place of execution. Jesus used the cross to illustrate the ultimate submission required from his disciples. We are required to stand for righteousness and that means we will be falsely accused and misunderstood by the world. Everything the world values goes against what the scripture teaches us. Being a disciple of Christ demands total submission to him.
