Breathwork/introducing KEVIN ONEIL
Respiratory Failure is the leading cause of death In Motor Neuron Disease. MND/ALS causes progressive weakness in the muscles controlling breathing, specifically the diaphragm and chest wall, leading to shallow breathing, fatigue, and shortness of breath. It often causes, disturbed sleep, morning headaches, a weak cough, and difficulty lying flat. Management includes Non-Invasive Ventilation (NIV) to support breathing, especially at night. Key Impacts on Breathing: - Diaphragm Weakness: The main muscle for breathing weakens, reducing the ability to inhale deeply. - Shortness of Breath (Dyspnea): Occurs during exertion and eventually at rest. - Orthopnoea: Increased breathlessness when lying flat. - Nocturnal Hypoventilation: Inefficient breathing during sleep, causing frequent waking, morning headaches, and daytime sleepiness. - Weakened Cough: Difficulty clearing mucus, increasing the risk of chest infections. - Hypercapnia: A dangerous buildup of carbon dioxide in the blood, which can cause confusion and drowsiness. - OPNMND WILL BE WORKING WITH KEVIN ON YHESE AREAS FOR OUR BREATHWORK PROJECT
