"Going to Sleep" VS "Falling Asleep"
At night, do you "Go to Sleep" or "Fall Asleep"? To “go to sleep” means to intentionally end your night. “falling asleep” is just being awake until you can’t be awake anymore. When we sleep, our minds are still working and running. Your subconscious doesn’t have an off button. And when you are asleep, it's all subconscious thinking because you have to be awake to have conscious thoughts. So your subconscious is running the program of what you were thinking about before you fell asleep. If you go to bed worried, you will often wake up worried. Go to bed angry, you will most likely wake up with great clarity on what you were angry about. So now, I have started going to sleep versus falling asleep. Going to sleep means having a ritual or routine that you do at night. Here’s what I recommend as a nighttime ritual: Read or listen to affirmations. I have added this to my nighttime routine. My affirmations are things I currently am working on manifesting or things that I desire in my life, no matter what the time period or situation is. You can find many positive affirmations on YouTube or you can make your own. Just make sure they are something that you agree with and believe. Express gratitude for seeing another night. No matter what you may be going through, the fact that you made it through to see another night is a blessing. Somebody didn’t see another night; didn’t have a bed or pillow to “fall” or “go” to sleep on. A short or long prayer of gratitude goes a long way. Picture your tomorrow going well. Do you go to bed in eager expectation of the great things in store or do you think of all the things you have to deal with and do? Imagine what your tomorrow would be like if it was what you REALLY wanted. “Take off today”. What I mean by take off today means to use the bathroom, take a shower, or at least change your clothes. So, in short, Go to Sleep!
