Be mindful of not only the populations, but the demographics you're serving at all times. Oftentimes, the most advanced, supportive, and loyal people are the most marginalized. Therefore, you need to account for those groups too and find a way to work with them, not around them. Otherwise, you're out of reach until you get out of that bubble.
There are no anomalies when you specialize in what you do. You're not only doing someone a favor, but they're doing you a favor. Especially when sponsorship, investment, and/or resources are involved. The feelings should be mutual and reciprocated. That's why if you knew better, you always would do better.
I often have to repeat myself to my students because they're too sensitive when I was direct the first time. If you can't accept constructive criticism, then you can't improve. Persistence over perfection. Communication is key. Cooperation is a virtue. Correspondence is necessary. Integrity should still stand behind the scenes, regardless of the conditions or circumstances.
