I’ve been thinking about creating this space for a long time, and it feels really special to finally open it. The truth is, this work started with me. I became a mother wanting to do things differently, but motherhood has a way of showing you the parts of yourself you didn’t even know were still there. I started noticing how much of the way I reacted, worried, controlled, protected, or tried to get things “right” came from things I had inherited without realizing it. And that led me to a much bigger question: How do we raise children who stay connected to themselves when so many of us had to disconnect from parts of ourselves to belong? That question is at the heart of this community. This isn’t a space for perfect parents. I’m not one, and I’m not interested in pretending to be. It’s a space for us to get curious about what shaped us, notice what we’re carrying into our parenting, restore what we may have lost along the way, and become more intentional about what we pass forward. We’re going to talk about the real things here. Emotions. Boundaries. Triggers. Identity. Authority. Repair. Our own childhoods. The moments we get it wrong. And the kind of relationship we want our children to have with themselves long after they leave our homes. I’d love to start by getting to know you. Tell us your name, how old your children are, and one thing you hope to do differently in your family than what you experienced growing up. I’ll share mine in the comments too. 🤍 Welcome to Decolonize Your Parenting. I’m really happy you found your way here.
