䷃ #4: Youthful Folly (Meng)
Hexagram 4 is now available in the Classroom, and working on it brought back a moment that made me smile. 😊
Recently, a friend I admire a lot - who has just started learning how to teach yoga - consulted the I Ching for the first time with me. He was a little hesitant, doubtful, and very curious. When Hexagram 4 came up to describe where he stands, we both laughed, because it fit his situation so well.
He’s at the beginning of a new path, learning to be a teacher, guided by someone very wise, calm, and slow, while he himself feels more impatient, eager to understand faster, and wondering what direction this teaching will eventually take him. Sounds just like the spring, at the bottom of the mountain doesn't it?
For me, this hexagram is a beautiful reminder of modesty and humility, and of the fact that we are always, in one way or another, beginners. No matter how much we know, learning never really ends.. it just deepens.
You’ll find the full Hexagram 4 lesson now in the Classroom → Hexagram of the Week.
I’m curious to hear where this hexagram meets you right now 🌱
