Coffee Hour - This Saturday!
I want to jump on a call with those who are interested and play around with the next custom tool that will hopefully help any pilot with their career progress: a "SWOT" analysis geared for aviation. Come join us and let's all test it out together! Check out the Calendar for the time (1400 Toronto Time) and link to join!
Coffee Hour - This Saturday!
Happy to join the group!
Hello all, I’m Steve - full time Quality Analyst (L3 Wescam) and part time flight instructor (Brantford Flight Centre) My love for aviation started after joining the RCAF when I was 19 working on the Boeing 707 and C130 Hercules as an engine mechanic. Soon after I caught the flying bug becoming a flight instructor at the Loyal Air Flight School in Belleville Ontario. (My first β€œofficial paid flight” was a cheque for $16.00 which I framed and mounted on the wall) Unfortunately that was roughly the average days wage back then and the military wasn’t much better so I moved on to Pratt & Whitney for a number of years and now I’m closer to home at L3 Wescam helping the military and law enforcement make the world a safer place. (Fun fact β€” it was a CANADIAN Wescam camera that captured the slow OJ Simpson police chase in California allowing the world to watch in the comfort of our homes! Yay Canadian engineering!!!!) I also want to share with the group that I just obtained my multi IFR rating last month which to me, is the equivalent of …. let’s say …. the Buffalo Bills winning the superbowl. This was a real struggle for me and I have to give a huge thanks to my wife for cheering me on and never letting me quit! I’m looking forward to reading the posts within the group, learning and sharing with good people that have an interest in helping others out! Thanks again for allowing me to join the TEAM!

Greetings from the the worlds' biggest pilot wanna be.
Hi. Im John Shore, living in Hagersville. I have recently moved towards a lifelong dream to become a pilot. I have purchased a Zenith Zodiak 601 XLB with 50 hours on the airframe and engine. I was plans building the 601 XL model about 20 years ago but gave it up when several of the airframes broke up in flight. The B mods have addressed the issues. The plane is currently disassembled and is in my garage. I plan to start my ppl this year. I have joined the burlington eaa chapter and will lean heavily on them for guidance including assistance from their MD RA resources. I will also seek guidance from a few friends who are experienced commercial pilots. I hope to obtain my night rating and instrument rating. I want to focus on effective management of factors relevant to GA incidents including pilot error, as statistically flying GA aircraft is even more risky than riding a motorcycle. ( I hit a deer on a motorcycle ). For fun and a rich life I rely on Christ. My interests focus on relationships, music, family, mechanical maintenence, golf, and scuba diving. I am a professional engineer with 40 years industry experience and currently operate an engineering services firm spawned out of my early retirement. As the saying goes, there are no old bold pilots. It looks like I'm an old new pilot and I want to make sure the experience is safe, enjoyable, and worthwhile and that it centres around my first love as all things should, to love the lord, bless others. and enjoy life in Christ.
