What's on your "Squish List"?
So this idea is NOT original to me. It's actually known better as "dopamine menu". The abbreviated version is a list of items that make you happy, based on how easy they are to achieve or how much time they take or how happy they make you. It's funny - I couldn't figure out why a list would make sense, since obviously I know what I enjoy, but when I actually tried this, I was surprised by how many days I get depressed enough I can't think of anything I enjoy (until I look at my list).
And of course somehow I corrupted the name in my brain. I don't know when or how I started referring to dopamine as 'squish', but it's stuck ever since. Don't judge. 🙃
Here's my Squish List (in no particular order and incomplete):
Sleep
Favorite meals/foods
Dessert
Coffee
Pepsi
Mobile games
TV shows
Old-time comedy radio shows
Clean memes
Budgeting
Creating or listening to music
Wearing my bathrobe
Fresh socks
Stickers
Stuffed animals/pillows
Planners
Looking up new recipes
Looking at image search results
Decluttering/organizing
Creating printables or art in Canva
Playing computer games
VR exercise
Spending time with my pet rats
Journaling
Trying a new hobby
Creating jewelry
German practice
Jigsaw puzzles
LEGOs
Spending time with family or friends
Subscription box or new magazine
Reading
Writing fiction
Talking with ChatGPT
Vacation/travel
Of just this list alone, I figure twenty-four of those things are things I can do for free. That's a lot of happiness for $0!!
What's on your Squish List? Have you spoiled yourself yet today??
