Wednesday, 05/27/26 ~ The Pathway to Increase Your Faith
In Luke 17:3–6, Jesus gives one of the most piercing revelations about forgiveness and faith: “Take heed to yourselves: If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him. And if he trespass against thee seven times in a day, and seven times in a day turn again to thee, saying, I repent; thou shalt forgive him. And the apostles said unto the Lord, Increase our faith. And the Lord said, If ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamine tree, Be thou plucked up by the root, and be thou planted in the sea; and it should obey you.”
What is astonishing is that the disciples did not ask for more faith after seeing miracles, demons cast out, or storms rebuked. They asked for increased faith after Jesus taught them about forgiveness. This reveals a prophetic mystery: the greatest strain on faith is not warfare, scarcity, or opposition saints; it is loving and forgiving people repeatedly. Jesus was unveiling that mature faith is not proven in public power alone, but in private surrender. Anyone can shout in victory when the atmosphere is charged, but it takes the nature of Christ formed within to release forgiveness again and again. The disciples understood that this dimension of obedience could not be performed through human emotion. It required supernatural transformation. Forgiveness is not weakness; it is faith operating in its highest realm because it trusts God enough to release judgment, pain, offense, and vindication into His hands.
Then Jesus answers them in a way that seems almost disconnected: “If ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed…” Yet prophetically, He was revealing that the pathway to increased faith is not accumulation but activation. You are going to have to activate this next dimension. The Kingdom does not measure faith by size the way men do; it measures faith by authenticity, surrender, and obedience. A mustard seed is small, but it carries life, potential, and endurance. In other words, Jesus was saying, “You do not need theatrical faith. You need true living faith.” Seeds must go into dark places before they rise. Likewise, faith increases when it survives betrayal, disappointment, delay, and repeated opportunities to forgive. Every time you choose obedience over offense, your roots go deeper in God. Yes Lord!
Prophetically, the sycamine tree Jesus mentioned was known for deep and extensive roots. He was teaching that even deeply rooted bitterness, trauma, offense, and generational pain can be uprooted by genuine faith. Understand now unforgiveness is a root issue, not an emotional issue. This is why Jesus connects forgiveness with uprooting trees. Many believers are asking for greater power while still feeding hidden roots of offense. Heaven is declaring that increased faith comes through crucifixion of the flesh, purification of the heart, and alignment with the nature of Christ. It’s not supposed to feel good folks. Faith grows where self dies. True faith is not just the ability to move mountains but it is the ability to remain like Christ while carrying the weight of betrayal, wounds, and misunderstanding without losing love. “For I reckon that the suffering of this present time is not worthy to be compared with the glory that shall be revealed in us”.
