Choose Your Partner Wisely.
Our Lord Jesus Christ made it clear in Luke 17:1 (KJV) that “it is impossible but that offenses will come.” This is not a possibility beloved; it is a certainty of every believer’s journey. I want you to hear me prophetically, offenses are not accidental interruptions; they are strategic moments that TEST the posture of your heart. The enemy, like a predator, studies patterns, weaknesses, and moments of vulnerability, seeking to introduce a snare. Scripture warns us not to be ignorant of his devices, because these traps are rarely obvious; they are often quietly and carefully baited. And the bait is always something that appeals to the flesh: pride, hurt, offense, jealously, validation, or retaliation. But what looks like an opportunity to respond (receive it) is often a setup to ensnare.
The nature of temptation reveals something deeper though because scripture declares “every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed” (James 1:14, KJV). Think about that because this means to fall for it, it had to already have a form of it working in you. The enemy does not need new weapons when he opts to leverages old appetites. The bait only works if there is a craving for it. Amen! This is why spiritual maturity is not just about behavior modification, but appetite transformation. When your desires are governed by Ruach HaKodesh, the same bait that once captured you loses its power. Offense cannot take root where humility dwells. Bitterness cannot grow where forgiveness is cultivated. The trap fails when the appetite changes. What once pulled you in will no longer move you when your hunger has shifted toward righteousness. Hallelujah for your growth, if you are not there, I prophesy IT’S COMING!
Be encouraged, sober, stay watchful, and whatever you do, do not fall for the trap. Refuse to take the bait. Our adversary the devil seeks to make a spectacle of believers, to suggest that we are unwilling to stand and remain faithful. BUT THE DEVIL IS A LIAR!!! You and I have been given Dunamis power to overcome. Why not make choke on his own lies by standing firm in the nature of Jesus Christ? Quickly choose forgiveness when offense comes because they are going to come. Choose truth when deception is offered by walking in discernment. Choose Christ when compromise is presented. In doing so, you not only avoid the snare but you testify of the transforming power of God. Stand for Jesus Christ with unwavering conviction and let your life declare that the enemy’s traps are broken by a believer whose appetite has been changed by partnering with the Holy Spirit. Ruach HaKodesh is waiting to work in and through you but will you choose him?
