MAIA AI Safety Fundamentals Fellowship Application (Summer '26)
Each semester, MAIA runs a reading group on why AI safety matters and what's being done about it, covering AI's trajectory, misalignment, technical safety, policy, and careers in the field. Cohorts meet once a week in small groups facilitated by a top MAIA member.
The summer cohort meets over Zoom. Sessions include dedicated reading time, so there's no assigned reading outside of meetings—though recommended readings are available for those who want to go deeper.
The fellowship is open to anyone: undergraduates, graduate students, postdocs, and beyond. For more on the curriculum and FAQ, visit https://aialignment.mit.edu/getinvolved/.
Questions can be directed to maia-exec@mit.edu.
If you're more interested in the policy and governance side of AI safety, consider applying to the intro policy fellowship run by our sister organization at Harvard, AISST: https://aisst.ai/policy-fellowship.
Deadline: May 22nd at 11:59 PM EST
