Your Self-Care Isn’t Optional. It’s Operational.
Let’s be clear: dementia care is high-output work. It’s emotional labor, physical labor, and mental labor—often all in the same hour. If you’re running on empty, you’re not being “strong.” You’re running a system with no fuel. Self-care isn’t a luxury. It’s your sustainability plan. Why this matters (for real) When you’re depleted, you’re more likely to: - snap or shut down - feel resentful (even when you love the person deeply) - make mistakes because your brain is fried - get sick… and then everything gets harder You can’t pour from an empty cup, and you shouldn’t keep trying. A hard truth and a loving reminder: You deserve care too. Not “when things calm down.” Dementia care rarely calms down. So we build support systems and we protect the caregiver—because the caregiver is the backbone. Your wellness is part of the care plan.

Welcome
Welcome to The Dementia Care Circle 💛 If you’re here, chances are you’re carrying a lot—and I want you to know you’re in the right place. I’m Gayon Buchanan, Certified Dementia Practitioner, memory care Program Director, trainer, author, and founder of Bella Cares LLC. This community is built for real-life dementia caregiving: the confusing moments, the hard behaviors, the guilt, the burnout, and also the love and small wins. What this group is for: You’ll get practical, step-by-step support for things like: - Communication that lowers conflict (what to say + what NOT to say) - Sundowning, agitation, wandering, resistance to care - Routines that make days calmer and safer - Boundaries + burnout prevention (because you matter too) Quick community guidelines - Be kind. No shaming, ever. - Privacy matters: no full names, addresses, or identifying details. - We’re support + education, not medical advice. Start here (please reply below 👇) 1. Who are you caring for (relationship + stage if you know it)? 2. What’s your biggest struggle right now? 3. What would a “win” look like this week? I’ll jump in and help you get a clear next step.
