You could be the best tradesmen on site but the second you step into leadership, Everything changes. Now its about: - People - Timelines - Decisions - Safety And most of the time people will break dealing with the above Question: If you were to be able to talk to yourself the day before you went into a leadership role what would you tell yourself? For me I would tell myself these 3 things, - Don't sweat the small things, You have too much else to worry about then some small issue that will take 5 mins to resolve. - Don't show emotion in front of workers, You may think this may help bond with work crews but it shows you're vulnerable and can cause issues with authority In the future. - Take your time, You may think you have to be busy all the time but what this does is causes you to burn out, And the last thing a crew needs is it leader not in the right head space making the wrong decisions.
