The 3 Traps We Fall Into as Women In Business That Burn Us Out
Growing a business is exciting and scary. For most of us, that just means getting busier, and our time is already short. However, the key to growing a business and not burning out lies in three fundamental concepts that go against what many of us women in business believe we should do. In this post, we'll explore these three concepts and how they can transform the way we think about and achieve our business objectives. 1. Stop Doing Too Much When we think about growing our business, often we are thinking we need to make more money, and if we aren't careful, the need to make more money overshadows the true objective - growing our business. If you fall into this trap, the first instinct is to think you need to do more - as in other activities: start another side business or pick up an extra side hustle trying to build the "multiple streams of income". The reality is that doing too much is a trap that dilutes energy and focus. Each new endeavor takes a piece of your valuable resources, leaving you exhausted and stressed. Imagine you have a goal you want to reach. Instead of scattering your efforts across various activities and hustles, focus on one thing. Achieving success in business requires concentrated energy and a strategic approach. The truth is that every business idea out there can work, but the power of distraction often prevents you from seeing any of them through to completion. Distractions take chunks of your energy, leaving you unable to devote enough to any single goal to make substantial progress. 2. Focus on the One Thing There is immense positive power in focusing on one primary goal. The energy you invest in focused effort not only propels you towards your big money goal but also builds your confidence and satisfaction. This focused approach creates a positive feedback loop that energizes you further. Start by making a firm decision to focus on one thing. Remove all other options and distractions from the table. This approach is straightforward, though it still requires hard work and effort. The shortest distance between two points is a straight line—similarly, the most efficient path to your goal is a single, focused effort. When you concentrate on one task, you can nurture it, maintain it, and do all the necessary work to be successful. This focused path reduces bad stress levels, prevents burnout, and ensures you have enough energy for other important areas of your life. It’s crucial to remain patient and persistent, keeping your eyes on the prize and resisting the lure of shiny new objects.
