Working on my article on fiber and plant sources, for this weekend and I'm digging into the traditional herbalism practice of using Plantago psyllium. Wood wrote, "fiber is said to enter the circulation and improve conditions of vasculature."
Does science back this up?
SURE DOES.
When gut bacteria munch on the fiber you feed them, they produce short-chain fatty acids like propionate and acetate that enter circulation and act as signaling molecules in tissues all over the body. :) IS THIS NOT THE COOLEST?
i love my job.
