“Surely God is my salvation. I will trust and not be afraid. The Lord, the Lord himself, is my strength and my defense.”
— Isaiah 12:2 NIV
Most men are carrying weight they were never meant to carry alone.
Fear about the future. Uncertainty about their purpose. The pressure of performing for a world that never stops demanding more.
Isaiah didn’t write this from a place of comfort. He wrote it in the middle of a nation that had drifted from God and was facing the consequences. And still — his declaration was trust over fear. Strength not from himself but from the Lord.
That is not passive faith. That is a man who made a decision about where his confidence lives.
Here’s the question that stopped me this morning:
If God himself is your strength and your defense — what are you still trying to protect yourself from on your own?
