Devotional: Trusting God Through Life’s Cold Fronts
This morning felt like a surprise.
Just yesterday, it felt like spring had fully arrived. Warm air, sunshine, everything pointing toward new life and fresh beginnings. And then—out of nowhere—a cold snap. Temperatures dropped, the air turned sharp, and suddenly it didn’t feel like spring at all.
And isn’t that just like life?
Sometimes we expect good things… and something hard shows up.
Other times, we brace ourselves for the worst… and God surprises us with something beautiful.
Jesus reminds us in Matthew 5:45 that “He sends rain on the just and the unjust alike.” In other words, life doesn’t always unfold based on what we expect or even what we think we deserve. The rain comes. The cold fronts hit. The seasons shift—sometimes without warning.
But here’s the truth we can hold onto:
God doesn’t change… even when the weather does.
Whether you're walking through a season of warmth and blessing, or you’ve suddenly stepped into something cold and difficult, your calling is the same—trust Him.
Trust Him in the sunshine.
Trust Him in the storm.
Trust Him when life feels predictable… and when it doesn’t.
Because just like that cold snap this morning, seasons don’t last forever. What feels uncomfortable now is still under God’s control. He is just as present in the unexpected as He is in the planned.
So if today feels like a “cold front” in your life—don’t lose heart.
God is still working.
God is still good.
And spring is still coming.
Prayer
Father, thank You that You are constant even when life is not. Help me to trust You in every season—the good, the hard, and the unexpected. When things don’t go the way I planned, remind me that You are still in control. Strengthen my faith today, and help me walk forward with peace, knowing You are with me. In Jesus’ name, amen.
