The Backyard Harvest Club is where Midwestern kitchen gardens thrive using simple organic methods, without the guesswork.
I’m Celeste, and I’ve been gardening for a few decades now, including over 8 years at my current home in Northwest Indiana. My experience has taught me that you don’t need a lot of space or fancy equipment to raise nutritious food right at home. Join our community and let’s get growing together!
Location matters! If you’re in zones 5 or 6 in the Midwestern US, parts of the Eastern US, or Ontario CN, we’re facing similar weather conditions and pest pressures: freezing winters, chaotic springs, hot and humid summers, and the detested squash vine borer! If you’re a neighbor in zones 7a or 4b, what we do is relevant, even if our timing varies. But many of our methods and best practices will differ from what’s best for gardens in other climate regions like the arid Mountain West, even if our “zone” is the same.
Happy gardening,
Celeste
