Reflections after Doing 4 Shows
Well friends, I went outside my comfort zone and did 4 shows at Charlies Collectibles (CCS) selling my handmade stickers and badges. I was with @Lindsay Ringenberg . She had her table and I was next to her with mine. We only paid $50 per table per day, so the price was good and the venue was about a 5 minute drive from our homes, so super convenient. My takeways - not sure this was the right venue for me. Charlies Collectibles crowd are into the world of anime, sci fi, and or course collectibles like Pokemon trading cards, or Hot Wheels. My stickers do not reflect that world, and honestly, it's not my world. Also, when selling exclusively low end items ($3.25 per sticker) and you're not catering to that exact crowd, it's hard to make money. Basically, I broke even after all 4 shows. I enjoyed the buyers and the other vendors, but at the end of the day, I wanted to sell inventory and/or connect with people about doing custom stickers. I'm not discouraging you to do shows, but for me I think I would need to find the right niche. We have one more show on March 8th for Barbie Con. We'll see how that goes!
