The Online Kitchen Table - group change / thoughts?
Hi ladies, I know we’re only a couple weeks in but I’m reading a book at the moment, and I thought… how cool would it be if this space could also be an informal book club… and then I thought, I wonder if it could be like a virtual women’s locker room where we all pump each other up and support one another… AND THEN I thought… maybe i should pivot this to be an online community that is a low pressure supportive environment, that encourages incidental fitness, but also all these other great things… sharing recipes, book recommendations, business advice, travel and creative endeavours, family support… basically a safe fun space for kick ass women to support other kick ass women! And so my long winded question is… what are your thoughts on if I was to change this group to be called “the online kitchen table” - I feel like so many of life’s moments happen at the kitchen table with friends, family… there are good times, hard times, and everything in between… that damn table sees it all! And so, if there are no major objections, I might look to change this group over the weekend! ❤️
Hello and welcome to The $5 Fun Fitness Club 👋
I’m Nikki, and I’m really glad you’re here. I created this little community because I want to move more… and I know I’m much better at sticking to things when I’m not doing it alone. Like a lot of people, I enjoy exercise once I’m doing it, but consistency can be hard. Some days I’m great at it, and other days life gets busy and it slips off my 'to do' list. My goal is to try and move at least once a day (or as often as I can) in fun and new ways, and have a supportive space where we can share and encourage each other along the way. Also, full transparency… I am someone who sweats a lot and turns extremely red when I exercise. Like tomato-level red. For the longest time that made me feel self-conscious, especially in gyms or group settings. But bodies are bodies, and they all respond differently to movement. So this space is the opposite of that kind of pressure. There’s no shaming here. No embarassement. No “perfect fitness” expectations. This is just a community of normal people trying to move their bodies in fun ways, share their wins, and cheer each other on. Whether your movement today is a walk, a stretch, a run, dancing in the kitchen, a gym session, or five minutes between meetings — it all counts. Thanks for being here. I’m excited to see what we can build together. Less gym bro. More play. 💛 P.S. photo proof of a before and after excercise 🍅😂
