This is called a preview text.
Everything after the dash in the screenshot below is the preview text.
When you don't add a preview text to your emails, that space in the inbox is filled with copy from inside the email.
And sometimes, that gives away the intrigue from the subject line. That's why you use a PV (preview text).
You can't add this just sending emails in Gmail though, it's only available through ESPs or cold email softwares.
