Do all ecom brands use html type emails?

I saw some emails from some renowned ecom brands in my promo tab...the reason they are in promo is because they are HTML type emails with lots of graphics.

I guess these companies already know that they're going to land in promo tab but have no other option as they have to sell huge range of product collections with varying offers...I'm confused whether to outreach to them...all I know is crafting plain text emails.

Can anyone help me in this?
