The Importance of Going Beyond Tuition for 11 Plus Success
As you are a month into preparing your child for the 11 Plus exam, I want to share some insights on why tuition alone may not suffice to ensure success. Today, I will be hosting a webinar at 7pm to discuss this topic in detail. I will also share links that will help you do this in real-time. Click here to register for the webinar. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email about joining the meeting. Why Tuition Isn’t Enough While tuition provides a solid foundation by covering the core subjects and skills tested in the 11 Plus, it often focuses on a general curriculum that may not address individual weaknesses or foster the depth of understanding needed to excel. It’s essential to supplement tuition with additional strategies to give your child the best chance of success. The Role of Extra Work Consistent practice is crucial in the journey towards passing the 11 Plus. Here are some reasons why extra practice can make the difference. - Tailored Learning: Extra practice allows for customised study plans that target your child’s specific areas of improvement. - Confidence Building: Familiarity with the exam format and types of questions can significantly boost a child’s confidence. - Skill Enhancement: Regular practice helps refine problem-solving skills and time management, both critical for the exam. Recommended Resources To support your child beyond tuition, consider utilising the following resources: - Workbooks and Practice Papers: These provide targeted exercises in verbal reasoning, non-verbal reasoning, mathematics, and English. - Online Platforms: Websites like Bond Online, BOFA and Atom Learning offer interactive exercises and mock tests. - Study Groups: Encouraging your child to join study groups can foster peer learning and motivation. - Educational Apps: Apps like Quizlet can make learning more engaging and accessible. I’ll be covering more about these resources and how to effectively integrate them into your child’s study routine in today’s webinar.

Year 5 Class - Fridays
Hello everyone, I hope the children are settled back in school following the Easter break. As mentioned in last week's session, we've had some changes to the schedule over the next few weeks. I will be taking the children for Maths this evening and the following 2 weeks (May the 1st and 8th) will be English sessions. Normal service resumes thereafter. If there is any confusion, pleas consult the Calendar tab on the Skool website. Thanks for your understanding. I'm looking forward to seeing the group tonight at 6:45pm. Speak soon, Dale -

Apologies if you were waiting on the model timetable 😊Quite a few parents asked for it, and I’ve now replied to everyone. If you’re still needing a model 11+ revision timetable to help structure the Easter break / upcoming weeks, just send me a message and I’ll send you the link to download it. Sometimes having a simple framework makes all the difference.

Make the Most of Easter
I hope your Easter break has started well. It’s already Wednesday, and this is usually the point where things either begin to take shape… or feel a little uncertain. If you’ve already made a timetable, that’s wonderful. If you haven’t, please don’t worry, you can still start now. It doesn’t need to be perfect. It just needs to be simple and doable. A few focused sessions in the week. A clear idea of what to revise. And a little bit of consistency. That alone can make a big difference. If you do need a model timetable or a starting point, just reply to this email and I’m happy to share something with you. Also, a small note. It’s completely natural to ask around, speak to friends, and gather advice. Do that. But also take a moment to pause and ask, “Does this make sense for my child?” Not everything works for everyone. Trust yourself. And trust your child. Even if things haven’t gone as planned so far, it is never too late to reset, regroup, and move forward. Children have an incredible ability to bounce back when the environment around them feels calm and steady. And that starts with us. ⸻ P.S. A few things that parents have been asking me about recently especially great for this time of year... sharing here in case helpful * Atom Learning – I do have a discount for the first month- 10% if you’re looking for structured online practice https://atomlearning.com/p/VUlD4e56 * Creative Writing Course (with Sheena Ager) – recorded with a live critique element, and lovely feedback from parents so far. https://slagereducational.thinkific.com/?ref=6dcff4 * Reasoning Masterclass (with Dale Jenkins) – starting in 5 days, covering both VR and NVR in a very clear, structured way. https://the11plusjourney.co.uk/product/11-reasoning-holiday-mastery-classes-2-easter/ * 11+ Stress Session Replay (with Charlotte Watson) – now available with the workbook, for those who couldn’t attend live. https://the11plusjourney.co.uk/product/handle-11-stress/
