Update- I said 20 and 18 for my children's age but they are 19 and 17 still! 😅
I spoke to a member here and they told me how their child does not do any work unless they are told to do it. They remember movie night every weekend but if mum or dad forget and they are not reminded of doing work, they will gladly get away. Poof, the day has gone! How many of you have this problem?
Do you know what? I have two sons aged 19 and 17 and there are (still !) times when I have to remind them to do basic tasks like registering for a driving test, filling out an important form or cleaning their room. 😅
A dear friend once told me this. Do you want to just leave things as they are and then have regrets later on? 😟
''I wish I had just a little more patience to follow through.''
''I wish I had put some time aside to sit together and complete a piece of homework with my child.''
''I wish I took out 15 minutes to read together on Saturday nights.''
Nope, I realised that regret would be worse than being patient and bonding with my child. Yes, it takes a lot of time and sacrifice sometimes but is it worth it? Yes. Yes. Yes!
You have children aged 8, 9 10 or 11. They are children! Take the time to bond over a conversation, a worksheet, or perhaps a discussion about a book. They will love your attention. And then you will start to see things change. Be patient until then.🤪
What do you say? 🤔
