How to train ChatGPT to talk like you
One of the easiest ways to get better results from ChatGPT is to teach it how you like to write.
Not in a complicated way.
Just simple things like:
Who you help How you talk What kind of tone you like What words you want to avoid How you want your content to feel
This is called Custom Instructions, and once you set it up, ChatGPT has a much better chance of giving you content that actually sounds like you.
Use the prompt below to create your own.
I want you to help me create custom instructions for ChatGPT so it sounds more like me.
Please ask me questions one at a time about:
- Who I am
- Who I help
- What I want ChatGPT to know about me
- My tone of voice
- Words or phrases I like using
- Words or phrases I want to avoid
- How I want my content to feel
- The type of audience I write for
- The kind of content I usually create
- Anything that makes my style unique
After I answer, please create two short sections for me:
Section 1: What ChatGPT should know about me
Section 2: How I want ChatGPT to respond
Please keep each section short enough to fit into ChatGPT custom instructions.
Make the instructions clear, simple, and practical.
Step by Step instructions
- Open ChatGPT.
- Go to Settings.
- Choose Customize ChatGPT or Personalization → Custom Instructions.
- Turn customization on.
- Paste the prompt below into ChatGPT first.
- Answer the questions it gives you.
- Copy the final instructions it creates.
- Paste them into your Custom Instructions.
- Save.
- Test it by asking ChatGPT to write a post in your voice.
