According to author Richard Louv, exposure to natural settings has been shown to reduce symptoms of "nature deficit disorder" and improve attention spans in children. A walk in natural spaces is effective in helping children focus. ... to participate in 100 For Earth Initiative 🌎 100 For Earth is for schools and/or families If it's a YES, comment below! I'll invite you to a special zoom call to outline some details and share the tracking pdfs with you and take your questions. If you know of another who might be excited to help, please let me know. This means a lot to me. What is it and Why? - 100 mindful moments outdoors (like the easy strategies I've outlined in the Focus & Motivation Classes) - Over the course of a school year - Bundled how you want (2 in a day, 1 every day for 100 school days, or any other arrangement) - Develop strategies for Calm + Motivation - Foster deeper connection with Their Local Nature (on school grounds, family spaces) - Enhance well-being, adults and children (Nature Nurtures) - Create Earth Stewards, building improved habits of thinking- and being, with Earth What I need from Volunteers: - active participation - commitment - tracking before the mindful moment (thinking, feelings of students, (quick anecdotal or checklist)) - tracking during the mindful moment (teacher observations / students comments) - tracking observations after the mindful moment (increased calm or not, enhanced motivation or not, general comments from students / teacher) - tracking 100 moments on a 100s chart (basic ✔️ will do) - honesty in feedback about what's working, not working Your contribution will help me validate that this initiative is helpful to participate in - and where tweaks, clarifications are needed. I give you SIMPLE strategies to use as quick, easy to use at transition moments, outdoors and the trackers. ✖️THIS IS NOT take a whole lesson outside. ✔️THIS IS implement one easy exercise at a natural transition moment. In participating, you are being part of SOMETHING REALLY GREAT 🌊 A project I've been building for years now. Just to validate, I have been giving a presentation on this topic for a couple years now at The International School of Geneva Switzerland, Forest School in ON Canada and Council of Outdoor Educators of Ontario Canada. This Initiative, 100 For Earth is the 'how' to implement in an accessible way, more learning -and living, outdoors with the children in our care.
