Self Host, Local or N8N Cloud?

Okay So, I have gone from n8n cloud to local and then self hosting.

on local I find that its very difficult to get the triggers that are on the internet to work, it seems that the build can be done on local but then to test and refine there is the need to self host or upload to the N8n cloud or am I missing something, I think there is tunnel command on local but I didn't get that to work.

So my questions are:

1 is there a way to keep local and have it interact with apps and tools that are on line?

2 what are the best solutions for self host

3 should I stay away from the N8n cloud because of restrictions ?
