This space is for you if you're teaching secondary English, whether it’s in a public school, homeschool, or a private school. The location doesn’t matter, but the students and the work absolutely do. We have the honor and responsibility of helping students explore the world through literature, shape their thinking through meaningful discussion, and express their ideas through the written word. The work we do isn’t just about standards or content. It’s about language, thinking, confidence, and voice. What happens in our classrooms matters beyond the bell. …and we do it all while navigating overwhelming schedules, neverending to-do lists, and sometimes the overwhelming expectations of parents, administrators, and districts. This community exists to share ideas that actually help - ideas that are easy to use, meaningful for students today, and built to last past Tuesday. As a classroom veteran of 27 years, I stand against busywork and anything that is unnecessarily complex. Grammar, writing, and literature all live in our classrooms - and in this Skool (don’t even get me started on the spelling error!) - not as separate silos, but as necessary parts of the same beautiful tapestry we are weaving. This isn’t a hustle space or a pressure-to-post space. Quiet participation counts. You can even sit in that comfy chair in the back corner if you want. Everything shared here comes back to one simple question: Does this make teaching easier, and does it help learning “stick”? The work we do matters. You matter, and I’m here to help make the days easier. If you’re an English teacher who wants to feel less alone along the way, you're in the right place.
