The “Signal > Noise” Growth Strategy
How LGBTQ+ Business Leaders Can Stop Chasing Everything, and Start Being Remembered
Today’s Lab Focus: Most businesses don’t struggle because they lack talent. They struggle because their message gets lost. This week’s strategy helps you clarify what you want to be known for, reinforce it consistently, and turn that clarity into trust, referrals, and revenue.
The Strategy: Own One Signal
Instead of trying to be everywhere, for everyone, doing everything, you intentionally amplify one core signal that your audience can instantly recognize and repeat.
Visibility without clarity = noise
Clarity with consistency = growth
Step-by-Step Strategy Lab Exercise
Step 1: Define Your ONE Signal
Answer this in one sentence:
“People come to my business because we are known for __________.”
Examples:
- “We simplify compliance for small queer-owned businesses.”
- “We help creators turn visibility into paid opportunities.”
- “We are the calm, trusted experts during business transitions.”
If you can’t say it clearly, your audience can’t remember it.
Step 2: Align Your Offers to the Signal
Review your current services or products and ask:
- Which ones reinforce this signal?
- Which ones dilute it?
Strategy move: Pause or de-emphasize one offer that doesn’t support your core signal, even if it makes money. (Clarity scales faster than clutter.)
Step 3: Repeat the Signal Everywhere (Without Repeating Yourself)
Your signal should appear in:
- Your bio or “About” section
- How you describe your work in conversations
- Your content themes
- Client onboarding language
You’re not being repetitive, you’re being recognizable.
Why This Works for LGBTQ+ Business Leaders
- Many of us were taught to prove worth through over-delivery
- This strategy replaces over-extension with authority
- It helps your audience explain you for you(“Oh, you need to talk to them—they’re the ones who do X.”)
That’s when referrals start happening without chasing.
Lab Reflection (Post in the Comments)
- What is the ONE signal you want your business known for?
- What’s one thing you’re currently doing that doesn’t align with it?
- Where will you intentionally reinforce your signal this week?
This lab is about leading with intention, not exhaustion.
More strategy. More alignment. More growth. 🚀
