Why do we rest between sets? 🤔
Many people think rest is simply about “catching your breath.”
In reality, three important things are recovering between every set.
💪 Your MusclesHard-working muscles become fatigued and temporarily produce less force. A short rest helps them recover so they can perform their best on the next set.
❤️ Your Heart & LungsYour breathing and heart rate increase to deliver oxygen to your muscles and remove carbon dioxide. Rest allows your body to restore oxygen so you’re ready for another quality effort.
🧠 Your BrainYour brain controls every movement you make. After a challenging set, your nervous system also becomes fatigued. A brief recovery helps restore focus, coordination, and strong muscle activation for the next set.
The goal of resting isn’t to make the workout easier.
The goal is to make the next set just as good as the first.
When kids understand why they rest, they learn that recovery is part of training—not a break from it.
At Stronger Together Academy, we teach children the science behind movement so they don’t just exercise—they understand how their bodies work.
💪 Train hard.😮‍💨 Recover well.🚀 Perform your best on every set.
