Kids must learn how to interact with the ground with their feet properly if they are going to reach their true top speed. At younger ages working on attacking the ground to feel more of a bounce is where hurdles make a great tool. They provide great visual for how high or how far they need to jump. Variety is key at younger ages so that a robust athlete can handle anything in the field or court. You don’t have to get fancy, a pair of shoes or cones can get the job done as well.
