Build the Plan (Part 3)
Tell Your Money Where to Go
“The plans of the diligent lead to profit as surely as haste leads to poverty.”
Proverbs 21:5 (NIV)
Family,
Now we build….
The last two weeks, you did the work. You saw your money, faced your habits, and got honest.
So now there’s no confusion..
you know exactly what’s happening.
This is where everything changes… or nothing does.
Because seeing it is one thing. Building with it?
That’s another.
Let me say this real clear… we are in times right now where you cannot afford to just be “getting by.” Prices are up, the economy is shifting, and we don’t even know what’s about to happen with money long term. So this is not just about budgeting. This is about survival, stability… and eventually wealth.
I know people who don’t make the most money, but they save the most. Why? Because they learned how to manage what they have.
Meanwhile, people making more are still struggling. Because income without structure will keep you in the same cycle.
So now we do it different.
You don’t just let money move anymore..you give it direction.
Every dollar that comes in has an assignment. Before you spend anything, you already intentionally decided what it’s doing.
Bills get handled.
But hear me… you get paid too!
Not what’s left over.
Not “if I can.”
Off the TOP!!!
Even if it’s small, you’re building a habit that’s going to carry you into overflow later.
Then you save.
Every check!
Not sometimes.
Not when it feels comfortable
EVERY TIME.
Because saving is not about how much, it’s about consistency.
That’s how you build security.
That’s how you create options.
Then you control your lifestyle.
Eating out. Shopping. Subscriptions. All of that gets a number and when you hit it, you stop.
That’s discipline.
If you don’t set a limit, your spending won’t have one.
Now let’s go higher…
Don’t just work for money..
Make your money work for you!
High-yield savings, life insurance policies, investments, business… something. If all you do is earn and spend, you’ll stay in the same place.
And we’re not doing that anymore.
We’re building.
So yes..we trust God.
But hear me clearly… faith without discipline will keep you praying for what you keep mishandling.
God will provide but you have to manage.
That’s the partnership.
So don’t overthink this.
Sit down, write your numbers,
build your plan, and follow it.
This is how you get free.
Not by making more money first…
but by managing what you already have differently.
That’s the shift.
Check Yourself
1️⃣ Where is my money going that I haven’t fully taken responsibility for?
2️⃣ What am I still spending on that I already know I need to cut back?
3️⃣ Am I actually paying myself first… or just hoping something is left over?
4️⃣ Where am I lacking structure in how I manage my money?
5️⃣ What small daily habit is quietly costing me the most?
6️⃣ Do I have a system for my money… or am I reacting off emotion every time I get paid?
7️⃣ If nothing changed financially, would my current habits still work?
Moves That Build Financial Strength
1️⃣ Track your money like a detective
Every dollar needs to be accounted for..no guessing, no “I think.” If you don’t track it, you can’t control it.
2️⃣ Pay yourself first! Every single time
Before bills, before spending..something goes to you. This is how you build stability.
3️⃣ Automate your money so you don’t have to think about it
Set your direct deposit to split: bills, savings, spending. Out of sight, out of mind but always building.
4️⃣ Save something from every check and don’t touch it
MANDATORY Not optional. Not “if I can.” This is how you create security and stop living check to check.
5️⃣ Cut waste without overthinking it
Daily coffee runs, random spending, delivery fees..it’s not one big thing, it’s the small leaks adding up.
6️⃣ Control your lifestyle before it controls you
Meal plan. Set limits. Be intentional. Living within your means is not lack..it’s strategy.
7️⃣ Watch your silent money drains
Subscriptions you forgot about, late fees, ATM charges, impulse spending. This is money leaving with no purpose.
8️⃣ Separate your money so you can manage it clearly
Bills account. Spending account. Savings account. When it’s all mixed together, it’s easy to lose control.
9️⃣ Put your savings somewhere that grows
High-yield savings accounts. Life insurance policies. Let your money earn while it sits. Don’t leave it idle.
🔟 Make your money work, not just move
Savings is step one but growth is the goal. Investing, retirement accounts, business. Build something.
Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for the clarity you’ve given me.
Now give me the discipline to follow through.
Help me not to just see my habits… but to change them.
Strengthen me in the moments where I want to override what I already decided.
Teach me how to be consistent, not just motivated.
Let my actions line up with what I say I want.
And help me to manage what I have in a way that honors You and positions me for more.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Decree & Declare
1️⃣ I decree and declare that I execute and stick to the plan I create. No excuses.
2️⃣ I decree and declare that my discipline is stronger than my impulses.
3️⃣ I decree and declare that every dollar that flows through my hands is accounted, assigned and aligned.
4️⃣ I decree and declare that my habits are producing stability, structure, and increase!
5️⃣ I decree and declare that I make financial decisions from wisdom..not emotion
6️⃣ I decree and declare that I am consistent, focused, and follow through.
7️⃣ I decree and declare that I am trusted with more because I manage what I have with excellence.
