Teen Arrested After Violent Dating Violence Investigation

Hillsborough County Detectives have arrested Jai'Keen Barlow, 17, after they say he held a victim against her will, physically assaulted her, strangled her, threatened to kill her and her family with a firearm, and prevented her from calling for help.

Detectives with our Domestic Violence Section arrested him and recovered the firearm used during the incident. Barlow was also on juvenile probation for prior felony firearm offenses.

"No one should ever live in fear of someone who claims to care about them," said Sheriff Chad Chronister. "This suspect used violence, intimidation, and a firearm to control and terrorize the victim. These are horrific acts, and we will continue to aggressively pursue those who commit domestic violence and ensure victims know they are not alone."
