The Edge Dulls Slowly
A sword doesn’t go dull in one strike.
It dulls over time, one lazy swing, one missed sharpening, one day you skip the work.
The same happens to a man.
You don’t lose strength, focus, or faith all at once.
You lose it slowly through small compromises you tell yourself don’t matter.
“I’ll do it tomorrow.”
“I’ll get back on track next week.”
But by then, the edge is already fading.
A sharp edge takes maintenance discipline, prayer, reflection, brotherhood.
You stay sharp by facing resistance daily.
Because a dull blade still looks strong… until it’s tested.
Reflection:
What small compromises have been dulling your edge lately?
What’s one daily habit that can bring your sharpness back?
Field Exercise:
Choose one discipline you’ve been neglecting, maybe training, prayer, or journaling.
Do it today with full focus, even if just for five minutes.
Afterward, take a deep breath and say:
“I’m sharpening my edge again.”
Repeat tomorrow. A sharp man is built, not born.
Scripture:
“Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another.”
— Proverbs 27:17
