🏁 Start Here: Your First 15 Minutes in This Community
Don’t overthink this. Do these steps in order and you’ll get value fast. ⏱ Step 1 — Introduce Yourself Post a short intro and answer these: - Where are you located? - What part of audio are you focused on? (recording, mixing, producing, live, etc.) - What’s the one thing you want help with right now? No life stories. Just clarity. I'll start - "Hi, I'm Donny Baker. I live in Burbank, CA and I like to work in my home studio for fun and profit. As a hobby, I like to work on my Jeep, and hang out with my hot wife." 🎯 Step 2 — Read the Community Rules This is a professional room. Before posting anything else: - No self-promo - No gear flexing - No theory debates - Leave Politics, Drama, Hate Speech at the Door If you’re here to learn and move forward, you’ll fit right in. 🧠 Step 3 — Answer One Question Find one post in the community and leave a helpful reply. Even a simple insight or encouragement counts. This community works because people participate. 📝 Step 4 — Ask One Real Question Post one clear, specific question about: - Business - Direction - Pricing - Clients - Next steps Vague questions get vague answers. Be direct. 👀 Step 5 — Check the Wins Read at least one “Wins & Progress” post. Pay attention to: - What people are actually doing - What progress looks like - What’s possible when you stay consistent This isn’t motivation — it’s evidence. ⭐ Optional (but recommended) - Turn on notifications so you don’t miss weekly posts and Live Calls. - Bookmark this checklist - Come back at least 2–3 times a week Consistency beats intensity every time. Final word: This space rewards: - Action - Respect for the craft - Willingness to learn If you do the work here, you’ll quickly know whether you’re ready for the next level of structure and support. Welcome — now get involved.

I forgot -
I forgot to record the Coffee Talk from this morning. No big deal, since I was there all by myself. At least I had a decent conversation with myself. I always enjoy hanging out with me. Plus, I hate people.

What's your Go-To, desert island plugin that you use on every mix? I mean, like the one you keep on your template. The one plugin you can't seem to mix without?

A discussion from another community...
I thought this might be of interest for you. They are basically talking about college vs trade school vibe - Or, a degree vs working with a mentor or a coach in understanding how to do what you want to do. Yes. If you are planning to be a surgeon, lawyer, or a rocket scientist, you might want to get a "Degree" first. But in our case, if you want to open your own business as a recording studio or a music producer - Find someone that you trust to show you "How" they did it. Have your coach basically hold your hand and guide you through the mistakes you are going to make because he or she has already made those mistakes. As a studio owner for many years, I've seen "Graduates" from prestigious, high end, Expensive, colleges/universities come to me asking for a job with a diploma, a resume, and a dream and still not know how to actually DO the thing. Cool. You read about it and passed a test, but still can't do it. No thank you. Go build some "Experience" and then call me.
